Why Choose Chatham Township & Chatham Boro

Chatham has been recognized by many major publications. CNN and Money magazine described it as more like “small New England town than a bustling Big Apple ‘burb.’”

About Chatham Township & Chatham Boro

Chatham is still very much a white picket fence community. It has reconciled rich traditionalist past with the 21st century sensibilities in a way that has created a homey place and an attractive option for anyone looking to move to the suburbs. In 2008, stable population growth, open space, minimal crime, and a low jobless rate earned Chatham the #1 spot in New Jersey Monthly magazine’s "Best Places to live" edition.

The Downtown Area

Downtown Chatham’s tree-lined Main Street offers tons of small businesses, many of which have old-fashioned signs. The sense of nostalgia continues just off Main Street, where front porch swings hang outside the wide front doors of gracious center-hall colonial-style homes, and American flags hang at the entryways of some houses.

Chatham Boro and Chatham Township comprise The School District of the Chathams. It is a consistently excellent district, offering comprehensive education objectives that run throughout a child’s education. Chatham High School is a Blue Ribbon School that has been ranked in the top tier of Public Education by New Jersey Monthly and US News to name a few. Another fantastic local option is Chatham Day School, a private school established in 1998 that runs pre-K through eighth.

Chatham is 25 miles outside of New York City. NJ Transit offers a 45 train to Penn Station New York and Hoboken terminals via the Morris and Essex lines.
