Why Choose Mountainside

Mountainside is a great option if you’re looking for a small town with easy access to NYC. A hidden gem, it is a small picturesque community set on the side of the Watchung Mountain. With both stunning views of NYC and acres of parkland in the Watchung Reservation and Echo Lake Park, Mountainside offers the best of both worlds. The town is filled with mature trees and quiet winding roads and its high ranking school district is the cherry on top. This is truly a great place to raise a family!

About Mountainside

With well-maintained establishments like the Trailside Nature and Science Center and the Watchung Stables, your kids will have access to educational programs and horseback riding right in their backyard. There are also many miles of hiking and biking trails, lakes, and historical sites.

The downtown area

Mountainside has a quaint downtown with a few well appointed shops and restaurants including the Publick House restaurant, Daimatsu Sushi and Christoffer’s Flowers. We also have a bakery, deli, salon and dry cleaner!

The Mountainside school district is comprised of Beechwood School (PreK-2), Deerfield School (3-8) and Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights (9-12). Both Beechwood and Deerfield schools offer excellent teachers and extracurricular activities.

You have a lot of options when commuting from Mountainside. Both the Summit and Westfield train stations are within a few minutes' drive. Although Westfield doesn’t offer Midtown Direct service to New York Penn Station you can still get to work easily with just one change in Secaucus.
